Anders Foldager surprisingly claimed victory at De Brabantse Pijl. The peloton caught the attackers in the final kilometre, after which the Dane proved to be fastest in the sprint. Quinten Hermans sprinted to second place, with Benoît Cosnefroy finishing third.
Record holder
Until now, only one rider has managed to win De Brabantse Pijl four times: Edwig Van Hooydonck. As a 20-year-old, he first won the race in 1987 after a fine solo. At that time, Van Hooydonck was the youngest winner ever. The two-time Tour of Flanders winner would go on to add De Brabantse Pijl to his trophy cabinet a further 3 times, in 1991, 1993 and 1995. Three times on the Alsemberg, he produced a phenomenal power sprint, giving his rivals no chance.
