In 2019, Flanders Classics, in cooperation with WSC Rode Sportief, is choosing to highlight the region that served as the home of The Brabant Arrow in the past. Two local rounds will be introduced in Beersel, which has traditionally made up the DNA of this competition, including passages through Dworp-Huizingen-Lot-Beersel and three hill climbs: Bruine Put, Menisberg and Lotsestraat.
The Italian Marta Bastianelli has given her spring even more shine with a victory in The Brabantse Pijl for Elite Women. After her victory in Gent-Wevelgem, it was the second victory for the rider of Alé Cipollini in the Flanders Classics spring races. In the sprint she beat the Canadian Leah Kirchmann (Sunweb) and Marianne Vos (WaowDeals).
This year Flanders Classics transforms the Pajot Hills Classic into the Brabantse Pijl Women Elite. On Wednesday April 11th 2018, the women will ride their first Brabantse Pijl consisting of 136.8 km in the heart of the Payottenland. With the Bosberg, the Congoberg and two tough cobble sections, it will definitely be an exciting cycling spectacle. Who will succeed the Australian Annette Edmondson and become the new ‘Flandrienne’?
