Tim Wellens: "I felt that I had super legs"

Tim Wellens, like his teammate Tiesj Benoot, seems to have taken a step up this season. In the Brabantse Pijl he proved that he was better than the rest. "I felt that I had super legs, when Jelle (Vanendert) went in the last lap, that was an ideal scenario for me. Still I did not think it went fast enough, so I went alone. We had 4 chances to score in these races and the first chance was the good one. This is not the same level as the races that are coming, but this race is important for the team. I'm sure I will still have this super form in the upcoming races. I do not say that I will win, but I will definitely play a role. "

Wellens pointed to the sky at the finish, as a tribute to Michael Goolaerts. "I did not know that boy very well, but it is obviously a drama. I did not want to cheer out of respect for the family."

Sonny Colbrelli: “Satisfied with my second place”

"We knew that Lotto-Soudal would be the team to beat and that is what they have shown in the local laps. Given the strenght of the Lottos I am satisfied with my second place. Wellens was too strong. I can accept that."

Tiesj Benoot: “Perfect race tactically"

"We did a perfect race tactically. First with Tosh (Van der Sande) in the escape, thanks to Tosh we were sitting in a chair. How hard Tim went afterwards: chapeau! I stayed in the peloton to try something if it would came together. I am still satisfied with my sprint, because I almost beat Colbrelli. This is very promising for the next races. I expect that I will still gain some strenght next weekend. Longer races fit better."
