10 April 2018

This year Flanders Classics transforms the Pajot Hills Classic into the Brabantse Pijl Women Elite. On Wednesday April 11th 2018, the women will ride their first Brabantse Pijl consisting of 136.8 km in the heart of the Payottenland. With the Bosberg, the Congoberg and two tough cobble sections, it will definitely be an exciting cycling spectacle. Who will succeed the Australian Annette Edmondson and become the new ‘Flandrienne’?

The Pajot Hills Classic is from this year onwards the Brabantse Pijl Women Elite. The first edition consists of 136.8 km through the Payottenland. The female cyclists get an authentic Flemish course. In the four local laps of 21 km, they have to survive the cobble section of 1100 meters in the Opperstebosstraat in Oetingen. The large lap of 56.4 km will for sure also give a lot of spectacle with a succession of beautiful hills: the Bosberg, the Onkerzeleberg and two times the Congoberg.

The final piece of the race comes with L'Enfer de Gooik. The riders have to do two hard cobble sections. The hilly cobble section of the Schavolliestraat (1600 meters) followed by 350 meters of cobblestones of the Schavollieberg and the 1100 meters long cobble section of the Opperstebosstraat in Oetingen will most likely separate the better from the weaker ones.

“They who want to make it happen here, will have to be driven. The winner will be a model of character and perseverance, a real ‘Flandrienne’.”

On Wednesday April 11th 2018 the riders start at 12h25 in the Dorpsstraat in Gooik. Around 15h45 we know who succeeds the Australian Annette Edmondson.
